About

Released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the new organ in St Asaph Cathedral, this is the first full solo recording of this Cathedral organ.

It features a wide-ranging programme from Baroque to Modern works to demonstrate the versatility and colour of this large instrument and includes a number of works associated with St Asaph.

Three major pieces are featured by William Mathias, who is buried in the Cathedral churchyard, as well as Vaughan Williams’ beautiful Prelude on Rhosymedre – named after a village in the St Asaph diocese - and the first recording of the hymn tune on which the Prelude is based.
