Paul Beier (lute)About
In the decade after his untimely death in 1543, at 46, there was a flurry of publications containing his works. It was to Perino Fiorentino that the Roman publishing firm of the Dorico brothers turned to scour for new material. The result of the collaboration between Perino and Dorico press was published in 1546, and contained 12 fantasies by the Milanese lutenist, 10 of which had never before been published, two new intabulations of French chanson, and two madrigal intabulations, the first by Francesco in this genre. To this Perino added four of his own fantasies plus two more intabulations of madrigals. Dorico's lute book became one of the most successful volumes of lute tablature of the 16th century.
