Mu Ye Wu (piano)About
Mu Ye Wu was born into a family of musicians in Beijing in 1985. He began to learn music at the age of five, and was soon attracted by the piano, which he studied at the Conservatory of his native city. While still very young he started winning awards in China: in 1994 he received first prize at the Hong Kong Piano Competition, and in 1998, at the age of twelve, he was voted ‘best young Chinese musician’. He decided to move to France for further study, and in 2001 entered Jacques Rouvier’s class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.
In 2003, he obtained third prize at the Busoni International Competition in Italy. The following year he was awarded fourth prize and the audience prize at the Marguerite Long - Jacques Thibaud International Competition in Paris. In 2005 he won a whole series of awards at the ‘Piano Campus’ Competition during the Journées Européennes du Piano at Pontoise: the first prize (‘Piano Campus d’Or’), the audience prize, the Classica prize, and the prize awarded by the symphony orchestra of the Conservatoire National de Région of Cergy-Pontoise.
