About

These previously unknown autographs were uncovered at the library of the Duchess Anna Amalia, Weimar and were proven to have been made by the young Bach.

These copies by Bach of works by Reincken and Buxtehude also contain previously unknown works by Pachelbel. The Bach copies are dated around 1700, so they pre-date the earliest documents in Bach’s handwriting. We are therefore afforded a glimpse into the musical development of the young composer.
