About
He studied at the Riga and Leningrad conservatories and was a student of Mikhail Vaiman. He toured in Europe, America and Japan with the most prestigious orchestras with such conductors as von Karajan and played frequently with Martha Argerich and Mischa Maisky. He was probably one of the finest violinists of the 20th century. Sadly, his career was cut short because of poor health; for the rest of his life he was a violin professor in Bruxelles.
The few recordings that exist of him, mostly of live concerts, are examplary both musically and technically.
