About
In 2024 Naxos released Quartetto Adorno’s recording of Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Complete String Quartets on 8574580: ‘This is the chamber music discovery of the year…serious but eminently approachable, quasi-programmatic, charming, melodic, colourful…’ (David Hurwitz, ClassicsToday.com).
For Naxos, Alessandro Marangoni has recorded Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s piano concertos (8572823): ‘The Second Piano Concerto, in Marangoni’s own edition; the result of intensive needle-in-a-haystack research. And, played by the hyperactive pianist and orchestra with such scintillating abandon, the composer’s charm and brio could, just possibly, bring a smile to even the most crusty and conservative listener’ (Gramophone).
Founded in 2015, Quartetto Adorno won three prizes at the 2017 International String Quartet Competition ‘XI Premio Paolo Borciani’, the first Italian quartet to do so in the 30-year history of the competition. In 2018 it won the X International Competition ‘V.E. Rimbotti’ and became an associate artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. The quartet has been supported by CIDIM since 2019. Quartetto Adorno has performed at prestigious series, venues and festivals such as the London Chamber Music Society Series at Kings Place; Wigmore Hall; Musikerlebnis, Munich; Flagey, Brussels; Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Rome; La Società dei Concerti, Milan; Fondazione I Teatri, Reggio Emilia, among others.
