Covering the years 1956 to 1978, this collection captures his “Indian summer” in the studio and includes his landmark Schumann and Brahms cycles, alongside authoritative interpretations of fellow composers Vaughan Williams, Elgar, Britten, and Holst. Sir Adrian Boult adapted exceptionally well to the shift from mono to stereo, achieving outstanding results thanks to his precise orchestral balance and collaborations with skilled producers and engineers.

From the mid-1950s onward, Boult produced significant stereo recordings of Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Walton, Holst, and others, including pioneering cycles of symphonies and major choral works that became reference interpretations. Boult worked closely with great soloists, notably Yehudi Menuhin, often creating definitive versions of cornerstone works in the British and European repertoire.
