About
Monteiro's playing was described by Gramophone as "full of verve and boldness, that tends to sweep listeners off their feet" while Santos's performances have been called "splendid" by Musicweb International.
Reviews
Monteiro digs deep into the dark heart of the F minor work and is light-hearted in the D major one. Santos is fully in command of Prokofievs often quirky piano writing. The recording is very good: one can imagine the players in the room with the listener. I can say that this version is as good as any and could easily be a first choice. Stephen Barber
Monteiro and Santos fulfill the demands of all three works in admirable, compelling fashion. This, they achieve not only with pinpoint execution, but with a chameleon-like ability to fashion their tonal quality and articulation to match the wide-ranging emotional content. This is an immensely satisfying recital from first note to last. Ken Meltzer
Monteiro is a master of the bow. Needless to say, hes also a master of left-hand fingering technique, which enables him to navigate the double-stopping and virtuosic passages with ease. In equal measure, pianist Joćo Paulo Santos contributes to the moodiness and edginess of the piece. Jerry DubinsError on this page? Let us know here
