Songs from Beyond is an elegant set of acoustic guitar arrangements of jazz standards by Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, and others, made by John W. Duarte, a British composer who was closely connected to some of the most famous guitarists of the 20th century in both the jazz and classical worlds. Working closely with Duarte's son, Christopher Duarte, who is engaged in a larger project of cataloguing and publishing his father's work, guitarist Francisco Correa has made a thoughtful selection of these previously unknown arrangements and plays them with great sensitivity and flair. In addition to the solo pieces, four tracks feature duos with guitarist Daniela Rossi, whose expressive playing brings a rich, intimate dialogue to the album.
