Reviews
Franco-Belgian soprano Marianne Croux is a delight, animated in ‘Adieux de l’hôtesse arabe’ – probably Bizet’s best-known song – and the dramatic ‘Petite Marguerite’. ... Mezzo Coline Dutilleul is extremely fine and is given all six Chants des Pyrénées, folk-like songs transcribed and harmonised by Bizet, with a flavour of his writing for L’arlésienne. ... The most familiar name here is Cyrille Dubois, who sings with his usual class, his light lyric tenor, with its fast vibrato, sounding intimate and tender. ... With full texts and translations, this is a valuable addition to the Bizet discography and one that should provide many hours of listening pleasure. Mark Pullinger
