About

The second instalment in the ongoing symphonic cycle of Scriabin symphonies conducted by Kazushi Ono.

The grandiose and particularly colourful Third Symphony by Alexander Scriabin retains ties to the Romantic tradition while foreshadowing the daring tonalities of Scriabin's later works. In three unbroken movements, it depicts the struggle between humanity and God (Luttes), the delights of a seductive passion (Voluptes) and a Jeu divin in which the spirit gives itself over to the turbulence and lightness of an untethered existence.

"I want to place the listener at the centre of the universe. My music must immerse them in a state of ecstasy and elevate them to a higher spiritual plane."

This quote encapsulates Alexander Scriabin's (1872-1915) profound ambition to create a transformative emotional and spiritual experience for his audience.

EPRC0061, Scriabin - Symphony no.2 was 2024 Critic's Choice by American Record Guide.

"The outcome is no less than overwhelming." - Classic Voice (ITA)

"The Brussels Philharmonic strings relish Scriabin's ardent and sensuous melodies." - BBC Music Magazine (UK)
