About

The latest album from Paris-based virtuoso organist Jean-Paul Imbert, student of Jean Guillou and Pierre Cochereau, playing eight composers on the theme of the 'Passacaglia', a musical form that originated in early 17th-century Spain and is still used today by composers. It is usually of a serious character and is often, but not always, based on a bass-ostinato and written in triple metre. The composers range from the 17th to the 21st century and include Bach, Virgil Fox, Buxtehude, Max Reger and Lionel Rogg.

This is a CD and hybrid SACD has a 5.1 surround track and this disc and is compatible with all CD players and SACD players.

There is an additional Universal 5.1 test track devoted to setting up, measuring with pink noise and balancing the channels on any SACD player. Features handy tracks to identify the correct channels and diagnose any set-up difficulties with processors and universal players.
