About
This music is intended for open, curious and sensitive ears. Its pro-speakers here are two multi-stringed instruments: the campanula and the harp (played by Ute Blaumer).
Michael Denhoff, born in 1955 in Ahaus, Westphalia, found his first early mentor at the age of 13 in Günter Bialas, whose Albumblatt GS opens this album. It was the first composition that Denhoff premiered on the campanula, which was developed in 1985. Denhoff studied cello with Siegfried Palm and Erling Blöndal-Bengtsson, chamber music with the legendary Amadeus Quartet and composition with Hans Werner Henze.
He has been honoured with various awards for his extensive oeuvre, which often has references to the visual arts and literature. His music is performed worldwide. Premieres and world premieres have taken place at the following festivals, among others: International Beethovenfest Bonn, Munich Biennale, Musik Triennale Köln, Klavierfestival Ruhr, Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik, Budapest Spring and Autumn Festival, Festival International du Domaine Forget, Europamusicale, Festival Latinoamericano de Música, Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte Montepulciano, Festival di Nuova Consonanza Roma, Saptamana Muzicii Contemporane Bucureşti, Kulturwochen der BRD im Kaukasus.
In addition to his artistic activities as a composer, cellist, conductor and teacher, he has also curated concert series and exhibitions.
