Herbert Von KarajanReviews
The intensity of lyrical feeling and the spontaneity of the partnership between Karajan and Rostropovich ensures the position of their DG disc at the top of the list of recommendations for this peer among 19th-century cello concertos. The orchestral playing is glorious. Moreover, the analogue recording, made in the Jesus-Christus-Kirche in September 1969, is as near perfect as any made in that vinatge analogue era, and the CD transfer has freshened the original.
