About
The six flute sonatas represent one of the highest summits of the flute repertoire. Their date of composition covers decades of Bach‘s life and each ones represents a somewhat different approach to the genre. The harpsichordist can not only show their own abilities and those of their instrument in the sonatas with virtuoso and independent harpsichord parts, but they also feature as a continuo player in two of the sonatas as well.
In this recording, a modern solid gold Muramatsu flute was used and a 'Modern' harpsichord in complete accordance with J S Bach‘s aesthetics, as the newest research testifies.
Jean-Michel Tanguy is one of the successor of Aurèle Nicolet and Jean-Pierre Rampal. Professor at the Staatliche hochschule für musik of Heidelberg-Mannheim, Jury member of the international flute contest Jean-Pierre Rampal, he also gives masterclasses in Vienna, France, Germany, Korea, Luxembourg, Belgium, Italy, Japan and the United States.
Miklós Spányi is one of the world‘s most acknowledged Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach scholars and performers today. He is working on a complete recording of CPE Bach‘s keyboard concertos and solo keyboard works for BIS Records. He has been teaching at the Oulu Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Finland since 1990. Currently he is also a teacher at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim, Germany, and at the Liszt Ferenc Music Academy in Budapest.
