In my early training, surrounded by no lack of Chopinists, my own deepest explorations centered on Bach and Beethoven. Later, an infatuation with various Chopin mazurkas grew into a profoundly rewarding undertaking to study and record all of them. Now, many projects later, I have taken the opportunity to record some treasured larger-scale and late-period works, as a long-deferred act of devotion. - Andrew Rangell
Chopin played with taste, elegance, and a cheerful off-handedness that avoids pretentiousness. Steinway's recording is clear and full of presence, and the ambience of the room enhances the piano's warm and resonant tone. All Music Guide
The sound of the Steinway Model D #586518 Rangell plays is about as lifelike as one could imagine. It joins the ranks of the best piano recordings I've ever heard, in fact." Classical Candor
"Rangell plays the pieces with such verve, involvement and understanding that the CD deserves a (++++) rating simply as an exercise in excellent pianism..." - Infodad
