A demonstration CD of all qualities which set Georg Philipp Telemann on a par with his illustrious contemporaries Bach and Handel: melodic invention, intricate counterpoint, blazing virtuosity and above all a true expression of feeling.

This disc presents a selection from Telemann’s works in different genres: two concertos for recorder and traverse flute, two sonatas in minor keys, solos from the delightful Essercizii Musici and the famous quartet from Musique de Table.

The ensemble Il Rossignolo honours the qualities of their name giver - the nightingale’s beauty and virtuosity are the inspiration for their performances, which are played on original instruments.
