About
Johann Sebastian Bach’s works for the emerging transverse flute were always in the shadow of his monumental partitas, suites and sonatas for violin and cello solo. In addition, there is the fact that of the seven sonatas for flute and harpsichord obligato or basso continuo included in Bach’s work catalogue, only four can undoubtedly be attributed to Bach today. But the three non-authentic works can absolutely bear comparison with those of the maestro and this is why Bach research assumes the composer was among his pupils or even one of his sons.
With their astonishingly fresh interpretation, Grzegorz Cimoszko, flute, and Richard Fuller, harpsichord, give these unjustly under-rated works new splendour.
