Who are the people who decide the 'correct' way to perform the music of the past?  Now we are in an age when electronic sounds can (nearly) flawlessly imitate the sounds a performer makes. Where does this leave the performers of the future? Can the use of modern music technology challenge the way in which classical music is played? These are a few of the questions Mats Claesson intrinsically poses with this recording.

"My version of the Holberg Suite has no intention of  being a “sound alike”. In using modern music  technology my aim is to be both creative and  challenging, expressing how I would like to hear the  Holberg Suite played. I hope you enjoy my version. Mats Claesson graduated from the Norwegian  Academy of Music in 1981 with classical guitar as his  principal instrument. He now has a position there as  Associate Professor of music technology and section leader for composition, music theory and music  technology. As music producer and sound engineer he has worked with Arne Nordheim, Ian Xenakis and John Cage.
